What's new
Recent AssetLab releases - the features that changed what you can do, newest first, each linked to its documentation.
AssetLab ships continuously. This page is the running record of what changed, newest first, with a link to the documentation for each feature. Use the buttons below to narrow it to one part of the product - the filter is part of the address, so a filtered view is a link you can send. Platform availability and incidents live on the status page.
October 2026
- Improvement A simpler requester portal. Requesters now pick what needs attention first, then where it is, then describe it, and anything with only one choice is filled in for them. A new Messages section gathers every request's conversation with unread counts, and each request shows its progress from submitted to completed.
- Bug fix Imports keep rooms and assets in their own branch. A work order or PM schedule row that lists rooms or assets by name now links the ones at its own site and building, never a same-named one elsewhere. Any import row whose name still matches more than one record fails and says which, instead of linking or creating one.
- Bug fix PM schedule imports link their template. The PM Template column of a PM schedule import was ignored, so imported schedules had no template. It now links the template with that title, and a title that matches none fails the row.
- Bug fix Lists keep their page. Open a PM schedule or work order from page 3 of the list and go back, and you return to page 3 instead of page 1. The page is part of the address, so it also survives a refresh. The work order list also keeps its filters and search for the rest of your session.
- Bug fix Asset list keeps its page. Back to Assets returns you to the page of the asset list you opened the asset from.
September 2026
- Feature Forms, part categories, asset statuses and feature types per workspace. Forms, part categories and asset statuses can be filed under Facilities, Infrastructure or Shared, and the Forms list has a workspace switch. Settings → Categories shows Asset Types and Feature Types as separate tabs. Everything existing stays Shared until you move it.
- Bug fix Requesters are no longer auto-assigned. With auto-assignment on, members of requester groups could be added to work orders at their sites and emailed about them. Only operational groups take auto-assigned work now; existing work orders keep their assignees.
- Feature User groups for infrastructure. Operational groups can now be Infrastructure teams that cover networks instead of sites. Members see only their networks everywhere - features, map, dashboards and infrastructure work - and receive auto-assigned work for them. Requester groups can list networks too, narrowing the portal's feature list.
- Feature PM schedules from a selection. Select features in the infrastructure table, or Ctrl/Cmd-click them on the map, and choose Create PM schedule to open the schedule form with all of them attached.
- Improvement Infrastructure-only workspace. Infrastructure-only Managers now get Level of Service, Reports and Categories, each showing infrastructure only.
- Feature Infrastructure filters on every tier. Filter features by status, install year, remaining service life, time since the last inspection, live project and open work order. Routes and Corridors take the same filters, listing what contains a matching feature, and Corridors add urgency and renewal window.
- Feature Repair and replace on a project's infrastructure. A project's Infrastructure tab works like its Assets tab: mark each feature repair, replace or good with an estimated cost, see the total, and create work orders from a selection. Add a route or corridor to bring in all its segments.
- Feature Projects on a map, and a calendar by network. The Projects page gains a Map view, pinning each project by the buildings, sites or features it covers and colouring it by progress, budget or schedule. The calendar groups infrastructure projects by network.
- Improvement Completed projects step aside. Projects whose phase means complete or cancelled leave the Projects list and stop flagging their assets and features as being worked on. They still show as history on the asset or feature.
- Bug fix Project closeout keeps in-service dates. Closeout no longer resets linked assets' purchase dates to today, and dates it had reset were restored. Record the work as a betterment instead.
- Bug fix Project financial forms keep what you type. Invoice, expense, purchase order and change order forms on a project's Financial tab no longer clear part-way through.
- Feature Workspaces for vendors, parts, projects, contracts and compliance. Organizations running both Facilities and Infrastructure can file each of these under Facilities, Infrastructure or Shared, and every list has a switch between them that opens on Shared. Imports file records the same way the forms do.
- Feature Work categories per workspace. File each work category under Facilities, Infrastructure or Shared in Settings → Categories. Work orders, PM schedules and lifecycle strategies then offer only the categories that fit the work; existing categories stay Shared until you move them.
- Improvement Export from every list. PM schedules, forms, compliance, contracts, expenses, work requests, parts, documents and locations each have an Export button that downloads what the list is showing as CSV.
- Feature Compliance placards and audit reports. Print a QR placard for a room or piece of equipment: anyone who scans it sees each compliance item's status and due date, and an inspector with the PIN sees the completed work behind it. The Reports tab downloads a branded audit PDF with every completed work order in the period and sign-off lines. The compliance list marks each item that is on a placard, and a new split view shows an item's figures beside the list.
- Feature Photos in work request conversations. Staff and requesters can attach photos to a message, and photos on a request always reach the work order it becomes.
- Improvement Two-week scheduling view. The work order calendar's week view spans two weeks, so you can plan across a week boundary without paging back and forth.
- Improvement Infrastructure costs from anywhere. Add Expense and Assign Cost can record a cost against a network feature, and infrastructure expenses filter by period, source and invoice.
- Bug fix Microsoft Teams notifications. Channels Microsoft moved to Workflows can be reconnected: paste the workflow URL under Settings → Integrations. The PM schedule due soon event now sends.
- Feature Record betterments. Record capital work that extends an asset's life - cost, added years, date in service and optionally the condition after - on its Betterments tab, instead of changing its in-service date. Value, remaining life, FCI, forecasts and the timeline all count it, and completing renewal work offers to record one.
- Feature Replacement value, separate from purchase cost. An asset can carry what it costs to replace today, entered as a total or calculated from units. FCI, forecasts and the Capital Brief use it as entered; where there is none, purchase cost drives them as before.
- Improvement Asset records open beside the list. On an asset's Work orders, TCO, Betterments and Condition assessments tabs, clicking a row shows its full details alongside. Documents and custom fields can be filled in on the New asset form.
- Improvement Every asset has a QR code. A code exists as soon as an asset is saved, however it was created, and bulk-export labels open the asset when scanned with a phone camera.
- Improvement Lifecycle projection on every asset. Any asset with an in-service date and service life shows its condition projection, with the last five years of readings behind it.
- Bug fix Condition assessments dated correctly. The date defaults to today in your timezone, and an assessment can no longer be dated in the future or push a projection above 100.
- Bug fix Assets back on their own sites. Assets that a 5 September correction moved to another site were returned, and imports now match a location only within the building named on the row.
- Improvement One FCI on every gauge. Every FCI gauge and the asset map use the standard definition and say how much of the value they could assess. Assets with no cost are left out rather than priced at a flat 10,000, so expect some figures to move.
- Improvement The Lifecycle tab leads with need, funded and gap. Set a horizon and read what renewal costs, what scheduled work already funds and the gap, by class. Compare scenarios, keep your scope and assumptions between visits, and read a shorter Capital Brief. Funded counts only open replacements.
- Feature Infrastructure on every dashboard tab. The Work orders, Team, Compliance, Expenses, Risk, Projects and Contracts tabs gain a Show filter - Facilities, Infrastructure or both - for organizations running both.
- Bug fix Average condition counts assessed assets only. The dashboard's average condition no longer counts unassessed assets as zero and says how many it rests on. High priority now includes Urgent work orders.
- Improvement Import templates with your own data. Templates under Settings → Import are Excel workbooks with instructions, your custom fields, and dropdowns of the sites, buildings, types and systems you already have.
- Improvement Reports read like the app. Report exports show names, statuses and readable dates instead of IDs and raw values.
- Feature Level of service Status, rebuilt. Status lists what is below target and by how much, keeps a monthly reading for a year-on-year trend, and prices the fewest replacements that close each gap. Infrastructure networks can carry targets. Condition targets at Critical and High facilities are now reachable, so expect fewer breaches there.
- Feature Service areas from a catalogue. Pick from nineteen common Canadian service areas, each with suggested measures and targets you can change. Condition and FCI measures are worked out from your data, and every measure can carry a ten-year proposal.
- Feature Ontario O. Reg. 588/17 reporting. Record the prescribed levels of service, compute road PCI, lane-km and bridge BCI from linked networks, propose ten years ahead, and download a reporting workbook. Features carry a road class, and Bridge is a built-in feature class.
- Feature Colour the network map by risk or age. A Colour by control paints features by condition, risk or age. The map opens on your town before you filter, and Esri overlays draw whole layers.
- Feature Export infrastructure features. Download every feature matching your filters as CSV, or as GeoJSON for QGIS or ArcGIS Pro.
- Improvement Lifecycle projection on every feature. Any feature with an in-service date and service life shows its condition projection, whether or not a strategy covers it.
- Feature More ways to import. Import a CSV of addresses with latitude and longitude as map points, a polygon layer as zones, or one chosen layer from a multi-layer shapefile. Esri sync no longer rejects features over a Feature ID clash.
- Improvement The Infrastructure dashboard forecasts your plan. FCI forecasts draw a Planner line for the replacements you have scheduled and, with benchmarking on, an industry average for your category. The replacement list covers every feature due in the horizon.
- Feature Connect Microsoft Copilot. Build a Copilot Studio agent against AssetLab's MCP server and use it from Microsoft 365 Copilot. Settings → API Keys has a Copilot card with the steps.
- Feature New API resources. The API and AI assistants can read organization settings including currency, manage level of service targets and consequences, read Status readings, and link PM schedules to compliance items.
- Bug fix API writes that failed now work. Creating expenses, invoices, purchase orders, change orders, project risks, comments, compliance records, budgets, project phases, budget items, cost categories, custom field definitions and feature classes works over the API, and a duplicate returns 409. If you built against the old fields: feature classes take
labelandcolor_hex, and budgets take a funding source of 'O&M' or 'Capital'. - Security API access follows your plan. A request for a feature your plan does not include returns 403 naming the feature.
- Security Financial and planning data is Manager+. Staff no longer see costs, replacement values, condition assessments or lifecycle forecasts, and pages hidden from Staff are blocked by URL too. Make someone a Manager if they need these figures.
- Security Calendar feed URLs expire after 180 days. Your Profile page shows each feed's expiry, and Regenerate URL issues a new one to paste into your calendar.
- Security Realtime on the data residency page. Live updates pass through a US Supabase node in transit; stored records, files and backups stay in Canada.
August 2026
- Feature Assets and buildings on a map. Place each building by coordinates or by dropping a pin. The asset register's Map view then shows one pin per building coloured by FCI, and the Buildings tab maps them too.
- Feature Duplicate an asset. Copy an asset from its row in the list, custom fields and photo included, then fill in the serial number and location on the copy.
- Improvement Create missing records from the asset form. Every dropdown on the asset form can add a new status, type, site, building, location or system without leaving it.
- Improvement The asset page opens as a page. An asset opens on a summary with its details in working order, and each card edits in place.
- Improvement Branded QR codes. QR codes carry the AssetLab mark and still scan when scuffed, and the printed asset sheet's code opens the asset.
- Feature Lifecycle strategies for assets. Model the interventions between installation and replacement - a roof recoat, a boiler retube - per asset type. Each asset projects its own renewal year, forecasts follow, and an event can create a work order or project when due. Strategies have their own Strategy page, open to Managers.
- Feature Estimate condition from age. An organization setting shows an age-based estimate, marked with a ~, wherever no assessment has recorded a score.
- Bug fix One condition scale everywhere. Every screen bands condition the same way: Excellent 85+, Good 70-84, Fair 55-69, Poor 40-54, Critical below 40. Some assets moved down a grade in the insights chart.
- Feature Show facilities, infrastructure or both on the Lifecycle tab. A Show filter narrows the whole Lifecycle tab, Capital Brief included, to one estate or both.
- Feature Rebuilt report builder. 30 data sources spanning assets, maintenance, places, infrastructure, classification and finance. Pick columns (custom fields included), filter with grouped AND/OR conditions, preview, then export to CSV or Excel.
- Feature Onboarding workbook and .xlsx import. Settings → Import offers a downloadable Excel workbook with one tab per record type, required columns marked and example rows included. Upload the .xlsx directly.
- Feature One work order, many infrastructure features. Work orders and PM schedules can cover several features - twelve hydrants in one flushing round - and the cost splits across them on close. The queue finds a work order under every network it touches.
- Feature Work orders on the map, with day plans. The queue's Map view pins facility and infrastructure work orders. Plan a technician's day as a numbered route, and raise or schedule work straight from the map.
- Improvement Facilities / Infrastructure switch. Organizations running both estates switch the work order queue and PM schedules between them, each with its own filters.
- Improvement Calendars show what happened. The PM and work order calendars show completed work on the day it closed and missed PM work in red, and the week view shows every assigned work order.
- Bug fix PM due dates and notifications. Due dates no longer show a day early and advance even when nobody edits the schedule. PM work orders notify their assignees whatever your auto-assignment setting, and imported schedules keep their frequency and status.
- Improvement A readable compliance trend. The trend chart shows one overall line and a month-by-month grid per item, worst first, exportable to a spreadsheet.
- Feature Request form on your website. Add a one-line snippet and visitors can report issues without an account. Each arrives as a work request, and the submitter is kept informed by email.
- Feature Work requests by email. Dedicated intake addresses turn an email into a work request, each with its own defaults and rules about who may use it.
- Feature Photo answers on forms. Inspection items can require photos, and contractors filling a shared work order can attach them.
- Bug fix Assignments stick across organizations. A person in more than one AssetLab organization can be assigned work in each of them.
- Feature Archive projects, and phases that mean something. Archive finished projects without deleting them, filter by your own phases, and set what each phase means so completed projects count as delivered capital.
- Feature Routes and corridors on the Infrastructure page. Switch between Features, Routes and Corridors on one page and map. Build routes and corridors from a selection, rename or delete a route, and create a capital project from the ones you pick.
- Feature Lifecycle strategies for infrastructure. Set interventions - crack sealing, resurfacing - per feature class, material or diameter band. Each feature projects its own renewal year, and the planner, map and forecasts follow it.
- Feature Select features on the map. Ctrl/Cmd-click gathers features, routes or corridors on the map for the same bulk actions as the table. Pick several networks at once to compare them, and raise a work order from any feature's panel.
- Improvement Better basemaps. Sharp Dark and Streets basemaps, a 3D buildings basemap, your organization's own basemaps including secured ArcGIS services, and a button that returns the map to what you selected. Red on the forecast map now means past due.
- Feature Replacement rates that match your tenders. Rates can be set by diameter band and per feature class, priced per m² or m³, and cite a source. Seventeen feature classes come built in with their units, each carries a criticality, and every feature shows which rate priced it.
- Bug fix Imported infrastructure is valued and forecast. Features that inherit service life and rates from their class or material, as every GIS import does, now count in FCI, the planner, the Risk dashboard and the lifecycle forecast instead of reading zero.
- Improvement The feature page edits in place. Each card on a feature's Overview edits in place, with a notes box, asset type and inverts. Condition and custom field saves that failed now work.
- Feature Import your columns as custom fields. The import wizard reads your file's columns and can turn any of them into a custom field. It asks for a coordinate system when it cannot tell, warns before a re-import would duplicate a network, and explains a failure.
- Improvement Learn Mode covers the new modules. Guided tours now cover Infrastructure, Forms & Inspections, Floorplans and the report builder.
- Security Private file storage everywhere. Photos and attachments are served through short-lived, access-checked links. If you integrate over the API:
/upload-urlsand/upload-filesno longer returnpublic_url- store the returnedpathinstead. - Bug fix API writes for comments, attachments and documents. Creating and updating work order and project comments, attachments, contract documents and infrastructure inspections works over the API, and work order photos come back when you read the work order.
- Feature Documentation site - this site, plus an interactive API reference you can read alongside your key's scopes.
July 2026
- Feature Forms and inspections. Build inspection forms with pass/fail checks, number readings, text, and photos, with conditional items that appear only when an earlier answer warrants them. Attach a form to a work order or PM schedule; answers come back as data you can filter and report on, not a PDF. Also exposed through the REST API and MCP, so an assistant can author templates from a manufacturer's manual.
- Feature Shared work order links. Send a contractor a secure link to one job - expiry from 24 hours to never, view-only by default, or tick allow completion so they can update progress and fill the attached form without an account.
- Feature Two-way conversations on work requests. A live message thread between the requester and staff, emailed on reply and badged unread in both the portal and the app. The thread follows the request onto the work order it becomes.
- Feature Self-serve single sign-on. Configure Okta, Entra, Google, or a custom SAML/OIDC connection yourself under Settings → SSO, with the ACS URL, SP entity ID, and metadata URL on screen for your IdP.
- Feature Esri overlays on the map. Toggle each active GIS source on as a read-only overlay drawn over your AssetLab features, then click an overlay feature to bind it to the AssetLab record it represents.
- Feature Status page. Platform availability with 90 days of history at status.assetlab.ca.
June 2026
- Feature Condition assessments. Record an assessment against an asset and keep the history: condition trends over time, a projected condition curve, and a suggested replacement year that feeds the planner.
- Feature Risk profiles. A catalog of reusable risk profiles in Settings, assignable as a system default and inheritable (or overridable) on each asset - so consequence of failure stops being typed in one asset at a time.
- Feature Level of service, criticality-driven. Facility criticality on sites and buildings, per-system targets with criticality modifiers, a System x Building status grid, and advisory consequences when a target is breached.
- Feature Capital Brief. The forward-looking capital narrative - projected replacement costs, keep-pace versus catch-up reinvestment, and the funding gap by system class - lives on Dashboard › Lifecycle and downloads as charts and tables for an asset management plan.
